The Changing Man

Following on from The Jam print last year it was decided to celebrate Paul Weller's 1990s renaissance with The Changingman Print. Combining the look of vintage Penguin books with Peter Blake's graphics for Stanley Road the print comes in an edition of 30 copies only. It is printed on high quality 250 gram silk paper and is 30cm x 40cm in size.

Christmas Time Is Here Again Part Two

This years Christmas Card designs are available in two different sizes. Above are the A5 (210mm x 148mm folded) versions sold separately. As with all Piper Gates Design cards they feature a unique blurb on the back to add to the visual experience or (as it is that time of year) Christmas spirit.

The latest subject of Piper Gates Design limited edition birthday cards is The Jam. Set in the "Sound Effects" era (though Bruce and Rick look like they've walked off the sleeve of "News of the World") the card shows Bruce and Rick at their amiable best with Paul brooding in a way that only Paul Weller can. Colour Me Pop

The subject of the annual Piper Gates Design colouring book is those Cheeky scamps The Small Faces. It was decided to concentrate of the “soul boys on acid” 67-68 phase as this is musically and visually Piper Gates favourite period of their career and one which lends itself to the medium of the colouring book perfectly. As with previous editions it features a 4 page full cover colour cover plus 16 pages of colouring in fun. The size is A4 and comes in a limited edition of 80 copies. Available here

Bradley Wiggins Mod Paper Doll

Having seen the Donovan Paper Doll some years ago Piper Gates has been been waiting for a subject worthy of such treatment. Cue cycling champion and all round ace face Bradley Wiggins. With his cycling by day and ace face by night persona Bradley made the ideal candidate for the paper doll treatment. This Paper Doll set contains two 400 mm x 300 mm prints. One contains the actual paper doll which can be cut up to make Bradley's different personas. The second print contains the made up paper dolls for those who don't want to go crazy with the scissors. Each print is signed by the artist and printed on high quality 250 gram silk paper this set comes as a limited edition. Last copy available here

Up All Night Part 2

Piper Gates were once again asked to create the cd cover for Going Undeground's latest happening which takes place at Lock 42 on June 4th 2011. Continuing to base the design on Phil Smee's legendary Rubbles series it was decided to visualise the look of the Rubbles series had it been conceptualized by the design department responsible for the Top of the Pops compilation albums of the 1970s.

Going Underground revisited

Piper Gates was very pleased to be asked to design the cover for the free cd to be given away at Going Underground's first allnighter on March 5th 2011 at Lock 42, Leicester. The concept for the cover was to make it a homage to Phil Smee's groundbreaking design work on the Rubbles compilations but with a typical Piper Gates twist re-imagine the Rubble design had it conceptualised by the design department of K-Tel Records in the 1970s.

Going Underground CD Cover

CD cover for hip, happening Leicester mod night Going Underground. I wanted this cover to scream out 1966. The influence of Blue Note Records really shines on the back cover while the front uses an image from Rave magazine heavily re-edited in Photoshop to show how we now perceive the look of the 1960's.
